STEELERS 101

To this point of the week, Steelers101 has been focusing on first round wide receivers. With the news coming out today the linebacker James Harrison will not take a pay cut to stay with the Pittsburgh Steelers, we will, at least shift to the defensive side of the ball later in the week.

Continuing with our NFL Draft profiles, we will break down the final wide receiver that could find his way into the first round, Baylor wide out Terrance Williams. At this point, scouts will have to determine if his off-the-charts production is more system based or talent based.

Heading into the Senior Bowl, the All-American wide receiver appeared to be rising. Unfortunately, after a so-so week where he could not consistently gain separation against quality cornerbacks and he came in shorter than expected, scouts were left scratching their heads and going back to the tape. When they get there, they will see a player who improved production over a three-year period with two different quarterbacks at the helm.

 

At 6-1 7/8, he was one of the most productive players in the NCAA recording 97 receptions for 1,832 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is athletic, with solid hands and a sound understanding of the passing game; possibly the most polished route runners of the top four receivers In the end, Williams is an interesting prospect with a combination of size and speed that would allow him to vertically stretch the field with his 4,40 to 4.45 speed and be a Red Zone target with his 205-pound frame. There is no doubt that with a good combine performance, he will find his way into round one
