The ailing Pittsburgh Steelers defense got some potentially good news Thursday, and linebacker LaMarr Woodley made it through a second consecutive practice and may be ready to go on Sunday. The Pro Bowl linebacker, who missed the past two games, has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons would be a welcome addition to a unit who could be without another starting cornerback this week.
The addition of an added pass rusher could be huge as cornerback Cortez Allen (Hip/Groin) missed practice for a second consecutive day and may be the second corner on the shelf with Ike Taylor (Ankle) already listed as out. If Allen cannot go, second-year cornerback Curtis Brown will start, with Josh Victorian and DeMarcus Van Dyke behind him.Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who has been battling a shoulder ailment, returned to practice and should be available for the match-up against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Steelers also made some moves on their practice squad this week due to injuries and suspensions. First, they added a cornerback to the mix by signing rookie cornerback Isaiah Green. The Buffalo Bills originally signed the 5-10, 180-pound Green as an undrafted free agent after not being drafted out of Fresno State. The team also re-signed wide receivers David Gilreath and Derek Moye after releasing wide receiver Bert Reed and promoting running back Baron Batch to the active roster.
