Last Sunday against the dynamic front four of the Cincinnati Bengals, conventional wisdom would have had the Pittsburgh Steelers airing out due to their lack of consistent running game. What happened, the Steelers rushed for a season high and returned to smashmouth football.

Ironically, this week, as the Steelers prepare to take on the Washington Redskins, last weeks expected game plan may again become front and center. Yes, behind running back Jonathan Dwyer the Steelers did not look as inept as they had early in the season against the Bengals, but, in this match-up, they clearly possess an advantage at the wide receiver position.

In looking at game film, the Redskins lack of speed in the secondary and have had a propensity to give up the big play. This was extremely evident on Sunday when the surrendered a game-winning 77-yard pass play against the New York Giants.  On the play, the Giants exposed what is the biggest area of concern against the Steelers, the lack of speed at safety.

With wide receivers Antonio Brown, Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders the Steelers should have the ability to attack the Redskins vertically, while also maintaining the controlled passing game with tight end Heath Miller and the running backs.  This game plan will also important for the offensive line, which will be playing their second consecutive game without tackle Marcus Gilbert.
