In some ways, that view may be warranted after watching the defense return to the stalwart ways, and a running game spring from the depths and look like the smashmouth days of old. Ironically, third and fourth string running backs and an offensive line that was down two starters did this explosion.

Is that something to look forward to moving forward? Possibly, but the same focus and dedication to the ground game must be the focus. At the heart of that focus must be running back Jonathan Dwyer. Dwyer has been the most consistent back since the start of the year in training camp, and before his turf toe, looked that way during the regular season.

Sure, Rashard Mendenhall made an impact in his first game back from his ACL injury, but he cannot be counted on to carry the load for the long haul at this point. With Mendenhall a question mark the Steelers must look to Dwyer ahead of Isaac Redman when Redman is healthy.

The tape does not lie, and Redman has not lived up to the expectations entering the season. Dwyer, while not spectacular, has been a spark when he gets into a rhythm. He runs downhill and has a burst that Redman does not seem to have.
