The former first round speedster spent Sunday night in the Eden Medical Center after the jarring hit from Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Mundy in the end zone. On the play, Mundy was not penalized for the hit that appeared to strike the defenseless receiver square on the jaw with his helmet.

Heyward-Bey appeared to be knocked unconscious by the hit and remained on the ground until he was carted off the field and transported to the hospital. After a night of observation it was reported that he was home resting diagnosed with a concussion and neck injury. On Monday, Mundy reached out to the injured receiver and confirmed that Heyward-Bey was resting at home and is expected to make a full recovery.

Of course, the play was but one of many controversial calls or non-calls made across the league by the replacement officials. However, at the real-time speed of the game, there is no way to tell of Mundy would have been flagged by the regular officials. At this point, even though the play was not penalized, it is expected that the league will fine the Steelers safety for the play.
