As the Pittsburgh Steelers continue their preparation for this week’s match-up against the New York Jets, injury questions continue to haunt the franchise in the early part of the season. While the team seems to have dodged a bullet with starting offensive linemen Ramon Foster and Marcus Gilbert, their defense may not be so lucky.

The Steelers had hoped for linebacker James Harrison to return this weekend, and that possibility still exists if you listen to the Pro Bowler. However, Harrison did not practice on Thursday, clouding his availability for the game against the Jets. If he cannot go, linebackers Jason Worilds and Chris Carter will see action in his stead.

The team could also face trouble in their secondary for the second straight week as All Pro safety Troy Polamalu again missed practice with a calf injury. An injury that could linger if not taken care of early in the season. If he cannot go, Ryan Mundy would again start for the Steelers after starting last week for safety Ryan Clark (sickle cell trait) against the Denver Broncos.
