Friday was a big day for the 2012 Pittsburgh Steelers, as their annual stint of training camp workouts in Latrobe came to an end. The team broke camp and now head back to the friendly confines of their hometown facilities to continue with the preseason.
Along the way, they also picked up a couple of new faces for the practices that will start again after their Sunday night preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. Those players, nose tackle Casey Hampton (ACL) and running back Rashard Mendenhall (ACL), will finally be able to practice after opening training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. While there is no guarantee that either player will be ready for the season opener, but, on a positive note neither will have to sit out the mandatory six-games associated with opening the season on the PUP list.
Max Starks, another player who was recently activated from the PUP list, returned to practice today in a limited capacity and may see action in Sunday night’s game, although that is questionable.
In other injury news, rookie offensive tackle Mike Adams (knee) has also returned to practice in the last two days, and also may see some action in the preseason game. For Adams, who had a rough opener giving up 2.5 sacks in nine plays, returning against the Colts could go a long way in helping boost his development.
