The Pittsburgh Steelers will not trade unsigned holdout Mike Wallace at any point this season, as reported by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

He goes on to report that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is also “no longer supportive” of Wallace in his attempts for a long-term deal. The Steelers are willing to wait to see if Wallace will cave in and that the team does not anticipate Wallace reporting before the team departs from St. Vincent College on the 18 of August. For now the Steelers are fine with this.

The team will stand firm with Wallace until he signs his one-year $2.742 million tender and reports to headquarters. It’s also being said that the contract fellow receiver Antonio Brown just received was close to if not the original proposal for Wallace.

The Steelers could always franchise tag Wallace again next year, with Brown under contract now. You have to question if the Steelers “no trade” talk is to boost what they could get for the Pro-Bowl wide receiver or if they really mean what they say.
