In a move we at Steelers 101 have been projecting since our offensive line preview in May, the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to release offensive tackle Jonathan Scott. With the move the team will save a reported $2.2 million.
As being reported by CBSSports.com reporter Jason La Canfora, The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to part ways with tackle Jonathan Scott. Scott had started in five games last season. Before that he has seen limited action as a starter, since being drafted by the Detroit Lions. This release shouldn't come as much of a surprise as earlier in the week the Steelers had come to terms with veteran tackle Max Starks for his return to the team. The move will also provide the team with some salary cap room as they continue their attempt to sign wide receiver Mike Wallace to a long-term contract prior to the start of training camp, something that seems closer to reality today than it has at any point in the offseason.
