Pittsburgh Steelers Host Another Potential Sleeper, Cincinnati Tight End Adrian Robinson

As we have discussed throughout the tight end dissections of the Pittsburgh Steelers visitors, one thing has jumped out, receiving ability. The NFL is a copy cat league and after watching what the New England Patriots did with theirs, expect more of that in the future.

One player that fits that bill is Adrian Robinson from Cincinnati. Out of all of the tight end prospects in this draft class, Robinson may boast the best combination of size, speed and athleticism. At 6-4, 264 pounds, equipped with a 4.53 40-yard dash, he would be match-up nightmare for opposing defenses. Couple the natural ability, with a hard working attitude and he could develop into a solid weapon for an NFL franchise.

While athletically gifted, with solid hands, he is extremely raw as a tight end and needs technique work and seasoning before a team could truly count on him as a every-down player (if he gets there). At Cincinnati, he was a hard worker and showed flashes of what he could be, but is still an effort player as a blocker more than anything close to a finished player.

In the end, if a team can draft him and develop his talent, they could arm themselves with a long-term starter and defensive mismatch for years to come. There is lies the problem with his total value, as any team that drafts Robinson, is drafting him strictly on potential and upside and not performance. With the make-up of the league as it is today, the question will be how much commitment you want to make to a player as raw as he is. Today, he rates as a late round prospect that could develop into a solid addition to any NFL offense.

As we have done throughout this process, Steelers101 will continue to profile the pre-draft visitors. To date, we have completed profiles all four tight ends who have visited the Steelers. Feel free to check them out and sound off on what you think on twitter @Steelers_101 or on facebook.
