Pittsburgh Steelers Get Solid Contributions from Their Youth

In Tuesday's press conference Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin praised his young and developing players that helped make the win on Sunday Night over the Kansas City Chiefs possible.  The players he talked highly of were Wesley Saunders, Ryan Mundy, Keenan Lewis and Jason Worilds.

Just a few weeks ago it was thought that the youth of the Steelers wasn't as effective as the youth of the Baltimore Ravens or the youth of the Green Bay Packers, but of late it seems that depth is finding their way.

The contributions of those younger players finally came Sunday when they were able to spark the defense by providing turnovers that halted numerous drives of the Chiefs. While many will say these turnovers were easy, the important thing to remember is before Sunday the team as a whole had just six turnovers all season and in this game capitalized on four.

The other big time performance was from Saunders who caught the only touchdown pass of the game, and showed that he can be a reliable target when Heath Miller is being blanketed in coverage.

As this season progresses the team will need the youth to continue to grow and lead the way once the playoffs come.
